Giving back is more than a corporate responsibility; it’s a reflection of who we are as Cable Bahamians.
This past weekend, members of the Retail Supervisors team came together to support residents of the Persis Rodgers Home, continuing the company’s longstanding commitment to serving the communities that have supported us throughout the years.
The initiative saw team members collect and donate essential supplies requested by the home, including adult diapers, laundry detergent, bleach, disinfectants, hand towels, and toilet tissue. These items will help provide comfort and care for residents who rely on the facility’s support every day.
For the Retail Supervisors, the effort was about more than simply delivering donations. It was an opportunity to spend meaningful time with residents, listen to their stories, and remind them that they are valued and remembered.
As people age, many find themselves facing challenges they never anticipated. Some residents rarely receive visitors or have the opportunity to see family members. Spending time with them and showing that someone cares can make a tremendous difference.
The team selected Persis Rodgers Home because of a deep appreciation for the elderly and a desire to support those who have spent their lives contributing to society. For many involved, the initiative was also personal.
“I chose Persis Rodgers because I love elderly people and try to assist them whenever I can, especially since my own parents have passed away,”- Sonya Thompson. “Many of the residents never have visitors and rarely see their families. We wanted them to know they are not forgotten.”
Following the donation presentation, team members spent time interacting with residents in the garden, sharing conversations, laughter, and companionship. These simple moments created meaningful connections and reinforced the importance of community.
The initiative serves as an extension of Cable Bahamas’ broader commitment to making a positive impact beyond connectivity. As a company, we recognize that the strongest communities are built when people come together to support one another during life’s most challenging moments.
