True value of a partnership is measured not only be the lives it touches today, but by the impact it inspires tomorrow.
Through our partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, we recently recognized several outstanding parents, teachers and students who participated in our back-to-school campaign challenge. The initiative celebrated the important and interconnected roles each person plays in building a stronger education system in The Bahamas.
As Communications and Brand Manager Kendeno Knowles shared, “This campaign was created to celebrate the people who make education possible.”
And no parent, student or teacher can make education possible without the other. Together, they form a circle of support that helps students learn, grow and pursue their potential.
Rashad Moss-Cunningham, affectionately known as “Mr. C,” has dedicated more than 13 years to education. Although he does not seek recognition for his work, his genuine love for his students resonated with those parents and faculty who nominated him for the prize.
“I serve because this is what I believe I was called to do,” he said. “Even after all the accolades die down, I will continue just being Mr. C, the music teacher.”
His Educators may face hardships, struggles and trials, but the students they serve remain at the center of their purpose. As one of the many winners across our archipelago in the teacher category, Moss-Cunningham received $500 in recognition of his commitment.
That same spirit of service was reflected in parent winner Lashan Alexis Dior Fox, who learned about the campaign through her daughter, a Grade one student. Fox received a $250 BOB gift card and a $50 RUBIS gift card, but her plans for the prize extend beyond her own family.
“I plan to use it toward my daughter’s education, along with helping another child who is less fortunate,” she shared. “Every child deserves to learn in a safe, caring environment. I’m grateful that even though I won, I’m going to bless somebody else and hopefully it goes beyond this moment.”
Her generosity demonstrates how one act of support can create a ripple effect, reaching further into the community and opening opportunities for others.
Grade six student winner Jamia Farrow received a new MacBook, which she plans to use for both schoolwork and entertainment. What began as an advertisement she and her mother happened to see became an opportunity neither expected.
“I honestly didn’t think I was going to win,” Jamia said. “I’m very thankful.”
Her advice to others is simple: participate, because opportunities are waiting.
Through partnerships like this, Cable Bahamas Group and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology are helping to ensure that recognition becomes encouragement, opportunity inspires generosity and every positive impact has the power to echo throughout our communities.
