Cable Bahamas Group and ALIV strengthened their presence on the regional stage at the 41st CANTO Annual Conference, held August 9th–12th, 2026, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
As the Caribbean’s leading association for the information and communications technology sector, CANTO brings together telecommunications operators, technology partners and industry leaders to advance innovation, collaboration and digital transformation throughout the region.

Representing Cable Bahamas Group and ALIV, Director of Information Security Shakera Johnson, MBA, CCISO, CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, was featured as a speaker during the GSMA Technology Summit. Joining regional and international telecommunications leaders, Shakera shared perspectives on network security and the evolving cybersecurity challenges facing operators.
Her contribution emphasized the growing importance of collaboration, strong security practices and continued investment in resilient digital infrastructure as telecommunications networks become more interconnected. It also brought a Bahamian perspective to discussions about how Caribbean operators can work together to build a more secure and future-ready digital ecosystem.
Cable Bahamas Group’s leadership was also demonstrated through ALIV CEO John Gomez, who serves as Treasurer of CANTO’s Board of Directors. During the conference, John moderated the CEO Dialogue, “Powering Caribbean Competitiveness,” leading a timely discussion with executives from Liberty Caribbean, Liberty Networks, Digicel Group and ATN International.
The conversation explored the opportunities, challenges and priorities shaping the telecommunications industry and the Caribbean’s ability to remain competitive in an increasingly connected world. The session also marked the first time CANTO brought all of the participating CEOs together for one dialogue, a significant moment for the conference given the demands of their schedules.

Director of Marketing Brittney Fountain, MPM, also contributed to the conference in her capacity as Chair of CANTO’s Marketing Committee. Brittney presented the committee’s FY27 marketing strategy and key initiatives to CANTO’s Board of Directors, helping to shape the organization’s direction for the year ahead.
From advancing conversations about cybersecurity and regional competitiveness to contributing to CANTO’s strategic marketing direction, Shakera, John and Brittney each demonstrated the depth of leadership and expertise within Cable Bahamas Group.
Their participation reflects the Group’s commitment not only to delivering innovative and secure services at home, but also to helping shape the future of telecommunications and digital connectivity across the Caribbean.
