Cable Bahamas Group officially relaunched the Cable Bahamas Cares Foundation (CBCF) on June 11th at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB), reaffirming its commitment to strengthening communities and creating opportunities for future generations through a renewed focus on strategic partnerships and measurable impact.

As part of the relaunch, the company announced a commitment to invest $1 million through the foundation over the next three years, supporting initiatives that empower people, strengthen communities and help build a more connected Bahamas.

For nearly three decades, CBCF has served as the philanthropic arm of Cable Bahamas Group, supporting initiatives focused on education and youth development, women’s empowerment, accessibility and inclusion, environmental stewardship, disaster relief and community development.

Now, the foundation is entering a new chapter centered on collaboration, sustainability, and long-term impact.

“The relaunch of the Cable Bahamas Cares Foundation reflects our belief that strong communities create a stronger Bahamas,” said Amber Carey, Vice President of Consumer Solutions, Marketing and Media. “While we are proud of the Foundation’s legacy, we recognize there is still important work to be done. Through this renewed commitment, Cable Bahamas Group is pledging $1 million over the next three years to support initiatives that create opportunity, inspire growth and deliver meaningful impact for generations to come.”

CBCF's renewd focus includes supporting education and youth development, empowering women and girls, advancing accessibility and inclusion, strengthening communities and providing assistance during times of disaster and national need.

This commitment is already reflected in initiatives such as iNSPIRE HER (iHER), The Bahamas’ premier women’s empowerment platform, which helps create opportunities for leadership development, mentorship, networking and personal and professional growth for women and girls across the country.

During the relaunch event, the foundation also announced its first strategic partnership under the renewed framework with Happy STEM Bahamas, a youth-focused organization dedicated to providing hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education opportunities for young people throughout The Bahamas.

Through a $40,000 investment, the foundation will support a programme designed to provide engineering, technology and innovation exposure to 20 girls, helping to build confidence, curiosity and pathways to future careers in STEM fields. The program is expected to expand in the years ahead, creating opportunities for even more young women throughout The Bahamas.

“We are excited to partner with the Cable Bahamas Cares Foundation to create opportunities that expose young Bahamian women to careers in engineering, technology and innovation,” said Crachad Laing, programme director of Happy STEM Bahamas. “What begins with 20 girls today is designed to grow in both reach and impact, creating a sustainable pathway for more young women to explore and pursue opportunities in STEM.”

Laing said the programme is designed to extend beyond the initial cohort and is set to welcome some 40 girls next year.

“Our vision extends beyond this initial program,” he said. “We want to expand opportunities to more students across The Bahamas, including the Family Islands, while equipping participants with practical skills in areas such as engineering design, software development, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies that will shape the future workforce.”

Carey said partnerships will be critical to achieving the foundation’s goals.

“The challenges facing our communities cannot be solved by any one organization alone,” she said. “We are committed to working alongside nonprofits, community groups, educational institutions and other partners who share our vision for a stronger, more connected Bahamas. Together, we can create meaningful and lasting impact where it is needed most.”
