iGNITE Her - Application Open

Imagine it. Build it. Share it.

This September, iNSPIRE Her Academy launches iGNITE Her, a 13-week product design, innovation and leadership programme for girls entering Grades 9-12 in New Providence.

Funded by Cable Bahamas Cares Foundation (CBCF) and facilitated by Happy STEM Bahamas, iGNITE Her will take 20 girls through the same design-to-product process used in modern engineering, from identifying a problem and sketching an idea to designing, building, programming and presenting a working product.

No previous coding or STEM experience is required. All you need is curiosity, creativity and a willingness to learn.

Powered by partnership. Built for possibility.

As the Foundation’s first partnership since its relaunch in June 2026, the programme brings together CBCF’s commitment to meaningful community investment and Happy STEM Bahamas’ expertise in hands-on STEM education. Together, they are creating a space where girls can explore technology, strengthen their confidence and turn bold ideas into working solutions.

This is where

big ideas begin.

iGNITE Her is not about following a tutorial or simply learning how technology works.

Participants will move through the full product-development process, using industry-relevant tools to design, manufacture, wire, code, test and improve their own creations.

13 WEEKS. ONE BIG IDEA.

IMAGINE & DESIGN

  • Identify a real problem worth solving and research existing solutions.
  • Sketch and model original components using CAD and 3D-modelling tools.
〈 / 〉

BUILD & CODE

  • Manufacture and assemble parts using 3D printers.
  • Build circuits using microcontrollers, sensors, motors and other electronic components.
  • Develop coding and logic skills using MakeCode, Arduino IDE and beginner Python.
  • Collect and analyse real-world data to improve how their products perform.

TEST & SHARE

  • Test, refine and re-test designs through the engineering cycle.
  • Document their work in a professional project portfolio.
  • Present and demonstrate what they create.

EXPLORE. CREATE. LEAD.
MAKE AN IMPACT.

Discover It

Be Inspired.

Meet women who are using STEM, and discover how engineers, designers and technology professionals turn ideas into useful products and meaningful solutions.

Be Connected

Through the programme, you’ll engage with leading women in The Bahamas who will share their experiences, lessons and advice. You’ll gain mentorship, strengthen your public speaking and communication skills, build confidence and learn how to create meaningful connections.

Create Something Meaningful.

Move from a blank sketch to a working, programmed and 3D-printed product that responds to a real design challenge. Participants will transform their ideas into an original project for iHER 2026 on November 13th.

Find Your Voice.

Build the confidence to explain your ideas, work through challenges, contribute to a team and present what you create.

Create It
Own It

Make An Impact.

Use creativity, technology and engineering to imagine solutions that can make your school, community and country even better.

Build More Than A Project.
Build Your Portfolio.

Each participant will document her designs, prototypes, code, testing and revisions in a professional project portfolio. By graduation, she will have a tangible record of what she built, how she solved problems and how her ideas evolved.

Is iGNITE Her
for you?

You do not have to be a coding expert,
and you do not need to have your entire
future figured out.

iGNITE Her is for girls who are:

  • Curious about how things work
  • Interested in designing, building or solving problems
  • Creative thinkers who enjoy asking “What if?”
  • Excited to learn by doing
  • Ready to collaborate, experiment and try again when something does not work the first time
  • Able to commit to the full 13-week experience
Apply Now Only 20 participants will be selected.

✦   YOUR APPLICATION CHALLENGE

If you could create something to solve a real problem in your school, community or The Bahamas, what would you create, and why does that problem matter to you?

As part of your application, submit a short video (YouTube link) telling us:

  • What problem you would like to solve?
  • What you would create to help solve it?
  • Why the problem matters to you or your community?

We are not looking for a perfect presentation or a fully developed invention. We want to meet you, hear your idea and see how you think.

A first look at
what you are building.

During the programme, participants will bring their ideas and early innovations to the iHER experience on November 13th.

They will then continue developing, testing and documenting their work as they move towards a completed working product and professional portfolio at the end of the 13-week programme.

Build what
comes next.

By the end of iGNITE Her, you will have explored industry-relevant technology, developed practical engineering skills and brought an idea to life as a working product.

You will leave with greater confidence, stronger problem-solving skills and a professional portfolio that shows what you can design, build, code and improve.

Your future does not have to fit into a box.
It can be coded, engineered,
designed, tested, rebuilt and
imagined by you.

Starting in New Providence.

Inspiring girls across The Bahamas.

The inaugural iGNITE Her cohort will welcome 20 girls from New Providence.

This is only the beginning. Future expansion to the Family Islands is planned, creating opportunities for more girls across The Bahamas to explore STEM, develop their ideas and see themselves as the innovators and leaders of tomorrow.

Bold ideas become brighter futures when girls are empowered to build them.
