  • Sherwin Gardner’s Viral Hit: Reaching the World One Phone at a Time

Sherwin Gardner’s Viral Hit: Reaching the World One Phone at a Time

Going viral is every artist’s dream, but in a world where popular culture shifts every few hours and content gets buried by ever-changing algorithms, it seems like a nearly impossible task.

For gospel artist Sherwin Gardner, when his song Find Me Here went viral, it was less about numbers and more about the power of purpose.

Sherwin was preparing to release a completely different project when Find Mе Here became the #1 viral song in the world in early 2024.

“This [song] was just a prayer for me, setting the tone for the year…” he explained. “As an artist, you put something out to hold you over until you release the official thing, but that ended up being the one that went viral.”

It was a moment that changed everything for him.

On the night of his album launch concert in The Bahamas, Sherwin received an extraordinary honor.

“At the show, I received the plaque that we just crossed over 2 billion views on TikTok,” he shares. According to him, there’s only one explanation for what happened. “The only thing I could say is that this was just something that Goр sprinkled the salt on, and it ended up being a blessing.”

The song struck a particular chord with many people across nations. Sherwin has formed a special connection with his listeners, witnessing the ways his writing has evolved as an anthem of motivation. Find Me Here echoes in people’s daily lives—something as gentle as a ringtone or as powerful as someone’s prayer. Even when promoting his concert, Find Me Here continued to create memorable moments for both Sherwin and his supporters.

“I’m still seeing the power of the song-even in one of the ads that we put up for the. show. I have an ad that basically says, ‘This is where it all started, and that went viral as well!”

    Technology Levels the Playing Field.

For Sherwin, Find Me Here is a testament to the way technology has irreversibly changed the music industry.

“Technology has made the world smaller,” he said. “Now, I can do something in my studio right here in The Bahamas, and it can reach places that I can’t even imagine.”

And for Bahamian artists, that accessibility is a game-changer. The ability to create, distribute, and share music on a global scale means local talent can now compete on an international stage. Sherwin’s concert wasn’t just a celebration of his success—it was also an opportunity for emerging artists to be seen.

“We had some international folks come in—major people—and they were really happy by the talent that they see in The Bahamas,” he shared. “I have meetings all week dealing with the possibility of some of the artists being able to get onto bigger
    platforms.”

    The Power of Local Support.

At the core of this entire experience was connection-something that Sherwin doesn’t take lightly. From keeping his team and international guests plugged in as soon as they land, to providing support through the ALIV Events app, ALIV stood behind him in his journey.

“I must say thank you to ALIV for the support throughout the journey of the show and event. It helps having companies who really see the vision and be able to enhance that vision.”

Beyond sponsorship, ALIV played a direct role in making the event more seamless and interactive. The ALIV Events App brought attendees closer to the experience, allowing them to seamlessly register and enter the event.

“Having a local app brings comfort,” he notes. “It’s something that you know.” We live in an era where technology intersects so many facets of our lives, including music and culture. Sherwin Gardner’s success story is proof that when purpose and technology align, anything is possible for Bahamian talent! With the right connection, The Bahamas isn’t just a dot on the map, it’s a global
stage. It’s Good to Be ALIV.

CABLE BAHAMAS CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF INNOVATION, RESILIENCE & CONNECTION

Three decades ago, Cable Bahamas set out to redefine connectivity in The Bahamas. Today, that vision has evolved into a legacy of innovation, resilience, and progress.

As Cable Bahamas marks its 30th anniversary, the company reflects on the milestones that have shaped our journey—from REV’s introduction in 2011 as the nation’s first triple-play provider, to revolutionizing the mobile landscape with the launch of ALIV in 2016, and now, transforming the future of connectivity with ALIVFibr.

“For 30 years, we have been at the forefront of every major shift in Bahamian telecommunications,” said Franklyn Butler II, CEO of Cable Bahamas. “We’ve led the way with innovation, choice, and reliability, and as we celebrate this milestone, we are committed to and excited about shaping the next era of technology in telecoms.”

Since launching in 1995, Cable Bahamas has grown from a cable television provider to a technology leader, delivering broadband, mobile, and digital solutions to thousands of Bahamians. The company’s legacy has been defined not just by technological advancements but also by its ability to weather storms.

From maintaining critical infrastructure during Hurricane Dorian to supporting businesses and families through the COVID-19 pandemic, Cable Bahamas has proven time and again that it is more than just a service provider—it is a lifeline for the nation.

To commemorate this milestone, Cable Bahamas is giving back to the people who made it possible—its customers. As part of its 30th-anniversary celebration kick-off, the company is partnering with Bahamasair to give one lucky new ALIVFibr subscriber a roundtrip getaway. This promotion is just the first of many more to come for loyal customers and employees.

“We are just getting started,” said Butler. “Our customers and employees are the foundation of our success, and this milestone is a tribute to their loyalty and dedication. We look forward to showing our appreciation throughout the year.”

  • The Women Behind the Network: Shaping Tech and Service at Cable Bahamas Group

The Women Behind the Network: Shaping Tech and Service at Cable Bahamas Group

From the executive suite to the front lines, the women of Cable Bahamas Group possess invaluable leadership, resilience, and expertise that shape the very foundation of the company.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we highlight the remarkable women at Cable Bahamas who prove that careers in technology, engineering, and corporate leadership are both attainable and vital to shaping the future of telecommunications in The Bahamas.

    Breaking Barriers, Building Legacies

For Charnette Thompson, Vice President of ALIV Business, stepping into the tech world was an unexpected but transformative journey. With a background in hospitality, she had to navigate the intricacies of telecommunications, learning to balance technical expertise with customer relationships.

“In the morning, I was in sales, and by the afternoon, I was tech support,” she recalls. “It changed me. It taught me to see beyond targets and transactions—to ensure that what I promised to clients was what actually worked. Her story is a testament to adaptability—an essential trait for any woman looking to carve out a career in STEM.

Similarly, Tracey Boucher, Vice President of Engineering, had to step outside her comfort zone. As an expert in the technical aspects of her role, she wasn’t sure if leadership was the right fit for her. “I thought I didn’t have it in me,” she admits. But as she learned to mentor and guide others, she realized that leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about empowering others to find them. Today, she is a pivotal force behind the engineering advancements that keep Cable Bahamas at the forefront of innovation.

    Redefining Success

For Kendalia Turner, Customer Loyalty Specialist, she learned that success is not always linear.

“In order to grow professionally, I had to unlearn the idea that you always get what you deserve,” she shared. “Staying consistent in my work, regardless of the outcome, became my focus.” Her work is a testament to the power of dedication and service. As a Customer Loyalty Specialist, she understands that great customer service extends beyond solving problems, requiring continuous effort in building trust, showing empathy and consistently delivering a positive experience.

For Lauren Capron, Residential Sales Associate, success is about legacy. Inspired by the strength and wisdom of her aunt and grandmother, she is motivated by the belief that every customer she serves is a part of a larger community—one where connectivity isn’t just about technology, but about people. “They grew me up with great principles, great morals,” she says. “And I carry those with me every day.”

When asked what advice they would leave on the desk of every woman, Charnette’s message was simple yet powerful: “Keep going.” Because every breakthrough, every challenge overcome, and every milestone reached by the women of Cable Bahamas is proof that persistence is its own kind of power.

Cable Bahamas places women at the forefront, providing endless opportunity to thrive in STEM through career advancement. The women of Cable Bahamas are more than employees; they are leaders, innovators, and changemakers.

  • Securing the Future: Launching the Annual ALIV Business Cyber Security Summit

Securing the Future: Launching the Annual ALIV Business Cyber Security Summit

Cyber threats are growing more sophisticated, relentless, and unpredictable—making cybersecurity a national priority for The Bahamas. ALIV Business recently hosted their inaugural Cyber Security Summit at Atlantis, Paradise Island under the theme “Securing the Future: Navigating Cyber Challenges in Business,” the event brought together over 300 industry leaders, government officials, and global cybersecurity experts to tackle one pressing question: How do we protect our businesses, our data, and our nation from evolving cyber threats?

    Cybersecurity is Everyone’s Business.

Cybersecurity has outgrown its stigma of being just an “IT issue.” In today’s digital economy, cybersecurity is everyone’s business. Every leader has a role to play in safeguarding their organization. That means going beyond delegation and taking an active interest in understanding the terminology and risks to ask the right questions and make informed decisions that protect both data and business continuity.

Shakera Johnson, Director of Information Security at Cable Bahamas Ltd., emphasized the critical role of leadership in cybersecurity governance. According to Johnson, cybersecurity must be embedded into every level of an organization, from the boardroom to frontline employees.

“Leadership must be actively engaged in establishing policies and enforcing cybersecurity throughout an organization,” remarked Johnson. “Risk management should be a structured, ongoing process—identifying, prioritizing, and addressing threats before they escalate.”

She highlighted the importance of risk management frameworks, urging businesses to assess their vulnerabilities, implement response strategies, and continuously adapt to new threats in an ever-changing digital world.

    Cybersecurity is National Security.

For Franklyn Butler II, CEO of Cable Bahamas Ltd., the ALIV Business Cyber Security Summit is a necessary step toward securing The Bahamas’ digital future. As technology rapidly evolves, so do the threats that can undermine businesses, economies, and even national stability.

“Cybersecurity is about national security,” said Butler. “We must ensure that the best and brightest minds in The Bahamas are thinking about protecting our digital future.”Butler recalled conversations with his team about Cable Bahamas’ role in shaping the country’s cybersecurity landscape. His vision? Not just being a cybersecurity leader but building a local talent pool and creating a culture of collaboration where businesses, government agencies, and technology leaders work together to safeguard the nation’s digital infrastructure. “We can’t just rely on external vendors. The world is shifting, and we need to develop our own expertise to ensure that our national interests remain protected.”

Building a Culture of Cyber Resilience.

Cybersecurity extends beyond technology—it’s about people, processes, and proactive preparedness.

Charnette Thompson, VP of ALIV Business underscored the importance of continuous training and education at every level of society.

“If one business is secure but interacts with another that isn’t, vulnerabilities can spread. We need education, training, and policies that protect businesses, individuals, and national data.”

From business continuity planning to incident response drills, she stressed that companies cannot afford to be reactive—they must be proactive in testing their cybersecurity strategies.

“We have all these business continuity and recovery plans, but have we tested them? Do we know if they work? How can we find these gaps and minimize the risk. “

While these risks may never be completely zeroed, this sentiment was echoed throughout the summit, reinforcing the need for collaboration between public and private sectors to test their plans, share their knowledge and fortify the country as a whole.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Cybersecurity in The Bahamas.

With over 300 attendees, a diverse lineup of regional and international speakers, and a packed vendor showcase, Butler believes this is just the beginning for the ALIV Business Cyber Security Summit.

“My dream is for this summit to become the best-in-class regional cybersecurity event for the Caribbean I want The Bahamas to be recognized as a center of excellence in cybersecurity, AI, and digitization.”

As Cable Bahamas continues to create awareness and action in the oncoming years, drawing in speakers and audiences from across the globe, cybersecurity’s next steps lie in the hands of businesses, government agencies and individuals. To achieve a sense of personal, organizational and national security, we must embed good cybersecurity practices in every aspect of our digital ecosystem.
