Spreading Awareness, Inspiring Inclusion: Cable Bahamas Purchases $1,000 Worth of Down Syndrome Awareness Socks

At Cable Bahamas, we believe in the power of connection—and that includes connecting with causes that matter most to our communities. In celebration of World Down Syndrome Day, we proudly stood alongside the Bahamas Down Syndrome Association to raise awareness.

As part of our commitment, Cable Bahamas purchased $1,000 worth of awareness socks—those vibrant symbols that have become synonymous with Down Syndrome advocacy. The funds go directly toward supporting the Association’s ongoing work: empowering individuals with Down Syndrome, advocating for their rights, and equipping families with the resources they need to thrive.

For Ms. Betty Taylor, President of the Bahamas Down Syndrome Association, this mission is deeply personal.

“Having a child with Down Syndrome inspired me to spread the news of Down Syndrome and the awareness that they are just like everyone else,” she shared. They just need the opportunity in life to go ahead.”

These powerful words remind us that inclusion isn’t just an idea—it’s an action. From classrooms to boardrooms, every space in society should be one where individuals of all abilities are seen, celebrated, and supported.

“What people in The Bahamas can do is treat our persons with Down Syndrome like everyone else. They are humans, just with a small challenge. We can include them in our schools, our churches and indeed in our workplaces as they get older.”

Our partnership with the Bahamas Down Syndrome Association is one of the many ways we’re striving to amplify voices regardless of ability, utilizing our leadership in the technology sector for equal opportunity connection.
