Nassau, Bahamas – November 14th, 2024 – Cable Bahamas recently celebrated its third annual iNSPIREHER Conference at the Grand Ballroom Atlantis, welcoming over 900 women and students for a day of shared insights, encouragement, and empowerment. More than your usual conference, iNSPIREHER has become a movement—a unique space where women and girls gather to empower each other, spark meaningful conversations, and create pathways for change. It’s a day dedicated to uplifting voices, sharing wisdom, and strengthening the bonds that drive personal and community transformation. Each year, iINSPIREHER continues to evolve, igniting the passion and resilience that fuels the future of Bahamian women.
The event kicked off with a powerful morning session, welcoming 400 students from across The Bahamas into an atmosphere charged with energy, camaraderie, and celebration. Led by dynamic hosts Stacy Campbell and Manda Panda, the session became a lively space for self-expression and discovery, encouraging young minds to envision their potential and embrace their unique voices. Former NASA scientist and future astronaut Aisha Bowe delivered an inspiring keynote, sharing her journey from community college to becoming an aerospace engineer. Boasting the Bahamian flag on her spacesuit, Bowe engaged students in an interactive Q&A, encouraging them to explore entrepreneurship and embrace new challenges as paths to discover their talents. The session also featured a talk from 12-year-old author Zahra Bryan, who shared insights from her book Black Girl Magic and inspired attendees with her message of resilience.
In the evening, over 500 women gathered in the conference foyer, transformed into a vibrant marketplace showcasing Bahamian women-owned businesses. Attendees enjoyed handmade crafts, local fashion, and other products, fostering new connections with business owners and supporting local entrepreneurs. The evening session included impactful talks and panels from prominent Bahamian and international women. The “Candid Conversations” panel, with speakers Alannah Van Onselen of Bahama Hand Prints, Suzanne Pattusch from the Bahamas Hotel & Tourism Association, and Dr. Iyandra-Smith Brown, COO of Quantfury, shared insights on balancing careers and family as female leaders. Dr. Giavana Jones spoke on prioritizing mental health, dismantling the stigma around therapy, and overcoming perfectionism, while motivational speaker Jessica Lundy concluded the conference with a powerful keynote. She provided tools to navigate personal and professional setbacks with confidence and vigor.
“When I think about the legacy of my grandfather Sir Milo Butler and his mother Francis Butler, who was one of the founding members of the Women’s Suffrage Moment, I think about so many strong men that have really been built by so many strong women,” remarked President & Group CEO Franklyn Butler II. Franklyn shared that he will continue to be an ally to women and use his platforms to invest in and create spaces of opportunity and mentorship.
The success of this year’s iNSPIREHER Conference reinforces Cable Bahamas’ commitment to fostering a culture of leadership for Bahamian women and girls. The energy and inspiration shared in both sessions left participants feeling emboldened and uplifted, reflecting on the conference theme: Inspire, Elevate and Enrich.
