Cable Bahamas Empowers R.N. Gomez Students with Cybersecurity Education and Live Hacking Demos

As R.N. Gomez Comprehensive School celebrates 100 years of excellence, students and educators received more than just a milestone — they got a powerful glimpse into the future of digital safety.

In collaboration with the National Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT-BS), Cable Bahamas Group hosted its first-ever Cybersecurity Workshop and Hacker Demo, with a mission rooted in Child Online Protection.

The session was led by Shakera Johnson, Director of Information Security and proud R.N. Gomez alumna, joined by fellow graduate Marcus Knowles of CIRT-BS. Alongside an outstanding team from Cable Bahamas—Ricardo Saunders, Ashley Bodie, and Tattiana Ambrister—they delivered an interactive experience that truly brought the digital world to life.

Live hacking demos revealed how quickly online threats can escalate, interactive sessions gave students the tools to think critically and stay safe and ALIV bags filled with school supplies were gifted to students as a small token of encouragement.

The impact was immediate. Both students and teachers walked away with practical knowledge to better navigate the online space.

At Cable Bahamas, we’re committed to building stronger, safer communities—starting with our youth. Every student deserves to feel secure online, and every educator should be equipped to teach digital safety confidently.

This is just the beginning. Awareness is the first line of defense—and we’re proud to be part of that first step.
